The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, in an interview with the “Different People” project published on YouTube on May 16, talked about the work of intelligence networks.
Budanov answered in the affirmative to the question whether Ukrainian agents are in the entourage of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“We have our own sources that inform us perfectly. But who are they – I’m sorry, it would be strange…” he said.
The head of the GUR answered the question whether the Ukrainian special services were involved in the liquidation of famous Russian figures and propagandists.
“A lot of people have already been “caught”. There are such public, media cases that become the property of society,” Budanov said, but refused to say anything about specific individuals.
Budanov added that the Russian intelligence network also operates on the territory of Ukraine, but its power has largely turned out to be a myth.
“Let’s put it this way: a person who for $100, working as a taxi driver, drives by and takes pictures of a fence behind which he allegedly saw cars, is also considered an agent. But this is not exactly what people usually think about,” he said.
