In Kyiv, a man is suspected of illegally storing weapons and embezzling donations to the Armed Forces

Date:

As part of the implementation of operational information on the illegal storage of weapons, the operatives of the Sviatoshyn police department detained a 26-year-old local resident, a native of Ternopil Oblast, from whose car they seized an RGN grenade with a detonator, a TNT bomb and 40 cartridges of 7.62 mm. During an emergency search of the residence, another 233 5.45 mm cartridges, a Kalashnikov assault rifle and three magazines for it were seized.

Subsequently, the investigators of the Sviatoshyn Police Department, under the operational support of the Security Service of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of the Sviatoshyn District Prosecutor’s Office, established the involvement of the detainee in committing fraud.

So, at the beginning of September last year, the person involved promised to buy an SUV for the military at a price below the market price. After receiving USD 4,500 from the customer, the perpetrator began to delay the delivery of the car, informing that it was at a service station. And after that he stopped communicating altogether.

In December 2022, the new moon again decided to consider the difficult situation in the country. The fraudster took 68,000 hryvnias for a generator that one of the volunteers ordered for the military serving in the active combat zone. Then, according to the old scheme, the man looked for a reason to delay time and, having failed to fulfill his obligations, disappeared.

At present, the suspect has been informed by the investigators about the suspicion. The sanction of the article provides up to seven years of imprisonment.
