Nine-time champion Novak Djokovic defeated another opponent – Tommy Paul, and set up the Australian Open final against Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The 35-year-old Serbian Djokovic overcame a first-set wobble to regain his composure and beat the American 7-5 6-1 6-2.

Tsitsipas, 24, has another shot at his first Grand Slam title after defeating Russian Karen Khachanov.

Third-seeded Greek Tsitsipas defeated Khachanov 7-6 (7-2) 6-4 6-7 (6-8) 6-3.

Tsitsipas booked his place in Sunday’s final after pulling away from 18th seed Khachanov, saving two match points in the third set tiebreak.

Another strong forehand saw a third chance slip away in the final game before Tsitsipas regained his composure and converted his fourth as Khachanov served long.

Tsitsipas lost to Djokovic in the 2021 French Open final and now has an opportunity to avenge that defeat.

But to lift the trophy, he must become the first player to beat Djokovic at Melbourne Park since 2018.

Djokovic, who defeated Paul to set a new mark of 27 consecutive men’s singles victories, is targeting a record 10th title, which would match Rafael Nadal’s 22 major men’s titles.

The winner will also become the new number one racket of the world.
