Three EU countries will be able to export Russian oil processing products to Ukraine

Date:

As part of the ninth package of EU sanctions against the Russian Federation, a decision was made that allowed Bulgaria, Hungary and Slovakia to export Russian oil processing products to Ukraine.

About this it is stated in the resolution of the Council of the EUpublished in the Official Journal of the European Union.

We would like to clarify that these three countries of the bloc received a reprieve from the application of the embargo on the supply of Russian oil.

“(The decision) allows Hungary, Slovakia and Bulgaria to export to Ukraine some products of oil refining obtained from Russian crude oil imported on the basis of the suspension considered (from the embargo), including, if necessary, by transit through other member states.” – said the document.

Also, it is Bulgaria that will be able to “export to third countries certain petroleum products obtained from Russian crude oil imported on the basis of the considered concessions.”

The EU Council explains that such a decision was taken due to the need to “reduce environmental and safety risks, as such products cannot be safely stored in Bulgaria.” But the annual export should not exceed the average annual volume of export of such oil products for the last five years.

In addition, it is known that the EU relaxed some restrictions with the ninth package of sanctions, allowing to unfreeze the assets and economic resources of persons who “had a significant role in the international trade of agricultural and food products, including wheat and fertilizers, before their inclusion in the sanctions list.
