Ukrainian wrestlers of the classical style became the winners of the Grand Prix of France.
The national Greco-Roman wrestling team of Ukraine won the traditional international tournament – the Grand Prix of France, which took place last week in Nice. “Blue and Yellow” took the first place in the medal tally of the tournament, they also won by points scored. The most titled member of the Ukrainian national team was the Olympic champion, former candidate for the post of president of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, People’s Deputy Zhan Beleniuk (he competes in the weight category up to 87 kg).
For him, the tournament in France became the first at the international level after the 2022 Olympic “gold” in Tokyo. Last year, Beleniuk won the championships of Ukraine twice, in June and September, and won the selection for the world championship, which he did not go to on his own accord.
The team of our country also included, in particular, the bronze medalist of the World Championship Andriy Kulyk (72 kg) and the world champion among juniors Mykhailo Vyshnyvetskyi (130 kg), notes the Society. Sport.

Six wrestlers from Ukraine won silver: Vyacheslav Bayraktar (category up to 55 kg), Viktor Petryk (60 kg), Oleksandr Grushin (63 kg), Andriy Kulyk (72 kg), Volodymyr Yakovlev (77 kg) and Dmytro Hardubay (82 kg).
Five of our players became the “bronze” medalists of the tournament: Koryun Sagradyan (55 kg), Parviz Nasibov (67 kg), Serhiy Omelin (97 kg), Yevgen Saveta (97 kg) and Mykhailo Vyshnievetskyi (130 kg).
In the overall result, “blue-yellow” with 295 points took the first place in terms of points. The hosts of the tournament have 110 points less, the Georgians came third with 148 points.
