Collected money for the transportation of the child’s body: the fraudster will be tried in the Rivne region
Investigators of VP No. 3 (city of Ostrog) of the Rivne RUP referred to the court a criminal proceeding with an indictment against a 29-year-old resident of the former Ostrog district, who fraudulently acquired more than 25 thousand hryvnias.
During the pre-trial investigation, the police established that the perpetrator published an announcement on her own page in the social network about the urgent collection of funds for the transportation of the body of her deceased child from Germany to the territory of Ukraine. It is known that the accused has three minor children: all of them are alive and healthy.
As a result of the perpetrator’s illegal actions, seven people became victims and contacted the police. They responded to the request for help and transferred a total of 6,300 hryvnias of their own funds to the card account specified by the 29-year-old woman.
The woman spent the received funds on her own needs, because, according to her, she has debts for previously received loans.
One of the victims exposed the scammer. She paid attention to the details in the publication and later demanded evidence from the woman: a death certificate, etc., which she was unable to provide.
According to the fact of fraud committed through illegal operations using electronic computing equipment, the perpetrators reported suspicion under Part 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Therefore, she may now face up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
The 29-year-old accused admitted her guilt and cooperated with the investigation.
