President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the upcoming meeting within the framework of the peace conference in Switzerland “already a successful result” and statedthat it is important not to give this Ukrainian initiative to anyone, especially to Russia.
“This meeting is already a result. It is very difficult: not to lose the alliance, the state, partners. And the union of partners and non-partners is, in principle, a difficult mission. In general, for Ukraine, when the war is going on, it is not the first month,” Zelenskyy said at a press conference with the Federal Chancellor of Germany in Berlin on Tuesday.
He also stated that the Peace Summit in Switzerland does not yet mean the coming of peace and the end of war.
“This is the way. Unfortunately. But we will pass it. I am sure of him. We will achieve peace. But this is the first step. He is very important,” the president said.
At the same time, as Zelensky noted, “you know that various meetings are being organized at various levels on the territory of Russia. Ministers of foreign affairs of many countries, BRICS, etc. – in order to build some other initiative.”
“Therefore, the second story is that no other state should take the initiative, because it would not be fair. Because the war is with us. And we have every right (to initiate our vision of ending the war – IF-U),” he said.
At the same time, the President of Ukraine emphasized once again, “we are very open. If we want to unite more countries around the world, we need to hear them. Because people will not just silently join this or that initiative. It is necessary to find a comprehensive solution in order to unite so many countries”.
“I think 100 countries from all over the world will be represented at the first Peace Summit. And it is important not to lose the initiative. And not to give it to just anyone, but not to give it to Russia. Because Russian initiative has been demonstrated in their vision of ending the war. And it was demonstrated on the day of the full-scale invasion. Their vision is the occupation of our country,” Zelensky said.
“That’s why we all need to work. Very much. And keep your fingers crossed so that everything works out,” he concluded.
