President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with Bloomberg TV said that former US President Donald Trump should come up with his plan for a quick end to the war with Russia, warning that any proposal should not violate the sovereignty of Ukraine.
“If Trump knows how to end this war, he should tell us today. If there are risks to the independence of Ukraine, if we lose our statehood, we want to be ready for that, we want to know,” Zelensky said, adding that he is “potentially ready” to meet with Trump to hear his team’s proposals.
He also stated again about the delays in the supply of weapons, stressing that “they cannot plan my life and the life of our people and our children. We want to understand whether we will have strong support from the USA in November, or whether we will be completely alone.”
At the same time, Zelensky thanked the US aid package worth $61 billion, approved by the US Congress this year after a six-month delay, but stressed that military equipment takes too long to reach the front.
Ukraine’s president also dismissed the idea that Ukrainian and Russian forces are deadlocked on the battlefield, saying the military is in a better position in terms of manpower than it was a few months ago and the new offensive is a matter of arming their brigades.
As reported, the former US president said he would end the war by the time of his inauguration in January. In a televised debate last week, Trump condemned the billions of dollars spent on the defense of Ukraine, saying that Kyiv “will not win the war.”
