Within the framework of the European Union program “Mechanism “Connecting Europe” (CEF), four projects on the development of transport infrastructure have been jointly presented by the Ukrainian side, the press service of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine reported.

According to message on Wednesday, the grant from the European Union will amount to approximately EUR53 million. It is noted that since a feature of the CEF program is co-financing for the implementation of projects in the amount of 50%, the Ukrainian side must provide a similar amount.

“All projects are primarily European integration projects. They physically bring Ukraine closer to the EU, expand the possibilities of transport corridors, the movement of goods and services, make it possible to accelerate the integration of Ukrainian transport infrastructure into the transport space of the European Union”, – quoted the press service of Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Serhiy Derkach.

Among the approved projects is the integration of the railway system of Ukraine into the EU transport system. The first stage involves the improvement of the railway network and the construction of a 1435 mm track to ensure technological compatibility and increase the capacity of the railway infrastructure.

Another project envisages the organization of traffic flows to increase the capacity of the infrastructure, safety and efficiency of border crossing services on the common road Romania – Moldova – Ukraine PE Galats/Giurgiulesti/Reni. It was developed and presented together with Moldovan and Romanian colleagues. Implementation of the project will make it possible to ensure the continuity of traffic between these checkpoints.

In addition, the project for the creation and implementation of a river information service on the Ukrainian part of the Danube River was approved, in particular its integration into the EuRIS portal and CEERIS of the RIS COMEX project (ensures the development of RIS from safety management to facilitating logistics services to make inland waterways easy to use and reliable in multimodal supply chains).

According to the fourth project, the recovery of the aeronautical industry of Ukraine and the further modernization of the communication, navigation, surveillance and aeronautical information infrastructure are foreseen.

The relevant decision within the framework of the CEF program was adopted at the meeting of the Coordination Committee of the program on July 16.
