The turbine of the first wind farm was launched in Transcarpathia

Date:

A turbine with a capacity of 1.8 MW of a wind power plant (WEP) was put into operation in Zakarpattia Oblast in test mode – the first in this region.

“It (VES – IF-U) is equipped with a turbine with a capacity of 4.8 MW, has a tower height of 120 m and a rotor diameter of 152 m. One such wind turbine has the potential to provide electricity for up to 3 thousand households”, – reported The State Energy Supervision Inspection of Ukraine (Derzhenergonadzor) in the Telegram channel on Friday.

According to her, the total installed capacity of the planned wind power plant will be 80 MW, and the amount of electricity produced will be enough to supply 50,000 households annually.

According to Transcarpathian mass media, the first wind turbine of the Ostrovsky wind park was installed in the mountain village of Nizhny Vorota (Mukachiv district). The windmill is installed on the border of the Lviv and Transcarpathian regions. According to its technical characteristics, it has average dimensions compared to other wind turbines operating in Ukraine.

According to the data of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UVEA), as of the beginning of 2024, the total installed capacity of Ukrainian wind power plants was 1.9 GW, of which 71% are located in the temporarily occupied territory. In 2022-2024, three new wind turbines with a capacity of 238 MW were put into operation.

As reported with reference to Andrii Konechenkov, the chairman of UVEA’s board, wind power projects with a total capacity of 4 GW are ready for implementation in Ukraine, but they are delayed primarily due to debts to RES investors and the lack of insurance against war risks.
