With 10 awards, Ukraine ranks 15th in the medal tally of the 2024 Olympics

On the 13th day of the XXIII Olympic Games in Paris, representatives of the national team of Ukraine competed in 8 sports, informs in the Telegram channel of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine on the night of Friday, August 9.

It is reported that in the medal count, with ten awards (3 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze), Ukraine occupies the 15th position.

According to the results of the competition day, Ukrainian athletes showed the following results.

Greco-Roman wrestling: Parviz Nasibov – silver medalist of the Olympic Games, Zhan Beleniuk – bronze medalist of the Olympic Games.

Women’s wrestling (weight category up to 57 kg): Alina Hrushyna-Akobia after victory in the first fight against Angelina Lysak from Poland (16:13). Then, in the 1/4 finals, the Americans lost to the Rio 2016 Olympic champion and Tokyo 2020 bronze medalist Helen Maroulis (4:7).

Freestyle wrestling (weight category up to 86 kg): Vasyl Mykhaylov lost to Tokyo 2020 bronze medalist Myles Amin from San Marino (4:7) in the opening bout and ended his performance at the Games.

Rhythmic gymnastics (individual all-around): Taisia ​​Onofriychuk reached the final with the fourth result in the qualification.

Rock climbing: Yevgenia Kazbekova became 14th in the second part of the semi-final – climbing on difficulty. According to the results of the duel, she finished the competition in 15th place.

Kayaking and canoeing: Lyudmila Luzan and Anastasia Rybachok, competing in the 200m singles canoe, failed to directly qualify for the semi-finals, but did so by winning their quarter-final heats.

Oleg Kukharik, Dmytro Danylenko, Ihor Trunov and Ivan Semikin, competing in the 500m kayak foursome, finished in 4th place in the first ever final of this discipline with the participation of Ukraine at the Olympics.

Modern pentathlon (rating round, fencing): Oleksandr Tovkai showed the first result, having won 24 victories in 35 fights (245 points), Vladyslav Chekan – 26th with an indicator of 15 out of 35 (200 points).

Valeria Permykina became the 28th (15 victories in 35 fights, 200 points).

Heavy athletics (weight category up to 59 kg): having received an injury during the performance, Kamila Konotop could not fully continue the performance and took seventh place in the sum of the duels (104+123=227kg).

It is reported that on August 9, Ukrainians will compete in 7 sports.
