Duda considers Germany’s accusations of the destruction of Nord Stream 2 “absurd”

Date:

President of Poland Andrzej Duda statedwhich considers Germany’s accusations about the destruction of Nord Stream 2 “absurd”, reports the office of the head of state.

“From a political point of view, this is absurd. But if such accusations are brought against an ally country, because Poland is an ally of Germany, then maybe we will see some kind of game, I don’t know who, with the Russians?” he said in an interview for “TV Republika”.

Duda noted that such behavior is “shocking and surprising.” He reminded that both Nord Stream gas pipelines represented a joint Russian-German interest to the detriment of Central Europe, primarily from the point of view of energy security.

“But, as you can see, not only energy security, because the result of Russia’s brutal imperial policy was not only the gas crisis and the closing of the gas tap in Ukraine, but also today’s direct military aggression against Ukraine,” the Polish president added.

According to him, Germany and Russia represent a “conglomerate of common interests.”

Duda recalled the participation of former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder in the Nord Stream-2 project, as well as the fact that he “repeatedly raised the issue of the construction of the pipeline during negotiations with the former Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, calling for the suspension of these works.”

According to him, he “repeatedly heard assurances that this is a business project and the German federal government has nothing to do with it.”

“I received with great indignation her phone calls, first to the President of the United States with a request to unblock Nord Stream-2, and then to Vladimir Putin with joy that this investment was unblocked and that it will be implemented. A continuation of this common anti-European cause is possible,” he concluded.
