The Norwegian Foreign Minister announced the allocation of EUR 250 million to support Ukraine’s energy infrastructure

Date:

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway, Espen Barth Eide, during his visit to Kyiv, announced a new package of energy support for Ukraine on the eve of winter.

“Today we are announcing a support package in the amount of EUR 250 million specifically for energy infrastructure. Here we are working with Ukrainian authorities and international partners to support repairs and help with new modern infrastructure,” he said at a press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart in Kyiv on Thursday.

He also recalled that Norway recently announced an increase in the Nansen Support Program for Ukraine to 11.4 billion euros.

“And this year alone, we allocated 2.3 billion euros, because we have a very strong message when it comes to our financial support to the military sector and the civilian sector, including the energy sector: Ukraine needs support here and now,” he emphasized.

In addition, the head of the department noted that Ukraine also needs support in the long term. He assured of “guaranteed support” both “in case of war and in case of peace”.

“While the war continues, we are close. When the war is won in favor of Ukraine, we will still be there in the efforts to restore, reconstruct and join Ukraine to the wider Europe”, – said Eide.
