Kyiv has increased payments to the prize-winners of the Olympics and Paralympics in Paris and their coaches

Kyiv athletes who won a gold medal at the Olympics and Paralympics in Paris in 2024 received almost UAH 2.5 million from the budget of the Ukrainian capital, those who won bronze received more than UAH 1.2 million, for the fifth and sixth places – UAH 186,000, they report on the website Kyiv City State Administration on Friday.

“The people of Kyiv demonstrated high sportsmanship and the will to win – the flag of Ukraine was raised twice in their honor. At this Olympiad, 140 athletes in 26 sports competed for the glory of our country. Among them, 42 athletes from Kyiv won awards in 15 sports,” said Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, who held a meeting with the Olympic medalists in the capital city hall building.

The KMDA noted that in the current year, the payments to the prize winners of the Olympics and Paralympics have been increased. Their coaches also received cash prizes.

The XXIII Olympic Games were held this year in Paris from July 26 to August 11. The Paralympic Games were also held in Paris from August 28 to September 8, 2024.

Out of the 12 awards of the Ukrainian national team at the last Olympics, 1 gold medal was won by Olga Kharlan and Yuliya Bakastova from Kyiv – saber fencing (team competition). 2 bronze medals – Olga Kharlan – saber fencing (individual competition) and Iryna Gerashchenko – athletics (high jump).
