Apple is exploring the possibility of releasing its own smart glasses

Date:

Apple is studying the possibility of entering the smart glasses market. The tech giant conducts internal research on products currently on the market.

The initiative, codenamed Atlas, began last week and involves collecting feedback from Apple employees about smart glasses, writes Bloomberg. The research is led by Apple’s product systems quality team, which is part of the hardware division.

“Testing and developing products that everyone can enjoy is very important to what we do at Apple. That’s why we’re looking for participants to join us in an upcoming study of smartglasses users on the market, the group wrote in an email to recruit employees at the company’s headquarters.

Bloomberg previously reported that the iPhone maker is considering entering the market — potentially competing with Meta’s Ray-Ban device. However, many years may pass before the appearance of a real product.

In September, Snap introduced a new version of the Spectacles smart glasses, an improved augmented reality product that will compete with a similar product from Meta.
