Eight countries, including Ukraine, joined the EU sanctions against Belarus

A number of countries have joined the EU sanctions against Belarus, the EU Council announced on Tuesday.

The message on the website of the Council of the EU states that it is about the restrictive measures introduced on December 16, 2024 in relation to 26 Belarusian citizens and two legal entities.

“Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway and Ukraine join this decision of the EU Council. They will ensure the compliance of their national policy with this decision,” the message emphasizes.

“The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it,” the EU Council adds.

As reported, on December 16, 2024, the European Union introduced sanctions against Andriy Rybakov, the general director of OJSC “Belaruskaliy”, two Belarusian logistics companies – Ruzekspeditsia LLC and Vlate Logistics LLC and the owners of these companies, some other Belarusian businessmen, as well as representatives of the judicial and penitentiary systems of Belarus.
