Dovzhenko-Center starts film lecture “How to stop worrying and fall in love with Ukrainian cinema”

Dovzhenko Center, with the support of the public organization “Museum of Modern Art”, is starting a film lecture “How to stop worrying and fall in love with Ukrainian cinema”.

The lecture will help to delve deeper into the history of Ukrainian cinema together with leading film experts.

The center notes that viewers will be able to watch Ukrainian films of the 1920s and 1960s, learn about the connection between different types of art. Film experts will also talk about the history of Ukrainian animation and documentary cinema, about the generations of the 80s and 90s, 2000s and about cinema after 2014.

The film lecture opens with a lecture “Between war and war. Narratives of Ukrainian cinema of the 1930s“. The lecturer will be Oleksandr Telyuk, a film expert and head of the Dovzhenko Center Film Archive. He will talk about the narratives of Ukrainian cinema using the examples of films by Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Ivan Kaveleridze and Igor Savchenko.
