Three members of the Rust crew sued Baldwin and the producers

Date:

Three members of the film crew of the film “Rust” sued actor Alec Baldwin and the producers of the film after the fatal death of cameraman of Ukrainian origin Galina Hutchins.

This is reported by Ukrinform with reference to The Hill.

As noted, three crew members Ross Addiego, Reese Price and Doran Curtin filed a civil lawsuit against Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC and El Dorado Pictures, accusing them of negligence and infliction of emotional distress.

According to a statement provided by their attorney and the Vigil law firm, members of the film crew were in Baldwin’s “line of fire” when he shot and killed Hutchins on the set of the film in New Mexico in 2021.

The lawsuit alleges that the producers hired people who had previously received safety complaints. In addition, according to them, Hanna Gutierrez-Reid, who was in charge of weapons, was appointed to the team despite her lack of experience.

The statement said that numerous complaints from the film crew “were ignored and the cast and crew were allowed to handle weapons without proper training.”

After the incident, the suit says, the defendants “did not offer any diagnostic services or any meaningful emotional or mental health services to the plaintiffs.”

“Despite this, Plaintiffs independently sought support for their injuries, which include – but are not limited to – insomnia, anxiety, depression and PTSD symptoms,” the lawsuit states.

As reported by Ukrinform, the incident happened in October 2021, when Baldwin was practicing drawing a gun on set the movie. The film’s producers were later fined and heavily criticized by the authorities for failing to comply with safety regulations.

At the beginning of October last year, it became known that Alec Baldwin reached a settlement with the family of Ukrainian cameraman Halyna Hutchins.

Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office announced at the end of October on completion of the investigation. The case was turned over to local District Attorney Mary Carmack-Oltwiss.

In early February to Alec Baldwin was officially charged in the unintentional murder of the cameraman of Ukrainian origin Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film “Rust”.

Later, the prosecutor’s office mitigated the charges to the American actor Alec Baldwin in the case of the manslaughter on the set of the film “Rust” of the cameraman of Ukrainian origin Galina Hutchins.
