According to Bloomberg, in the next few months, Apple will announce a new iOS feature that will allow the iPhone to accept payments via NFC.
Back in 2020, Apple acquired the company Mobeewave, which was developing a similar technology for receiving payments on smartphones.
The feature may be in high demand given the number of small businesses for whom a terminal is an expensive luxury.
The smartphone will act as a terminal. The card or iPhone with Apple Pay will need to be added to the back cover of the second smartphone, where the NFC scanner is located.
Since the final iOS 15.3 became available yesterday, the new feature may appear already in iOS 15.4. In terms of timing, everything converges: several months will be spent on testing beta versions, and then a release for everyone will take place.
