US President Joe Biden does not plan to withdraw from the final pre-election debate with Donald Trump, CNN reports on Friday.
“President Joe Biden still plans to participate in the pre-election debates in September,” the channel reported, citing an unnamed adviser to the leader.
This statement was made after the first debate between Biden and Trump, which took place on the night of Friday. Polls showed that, according to the Americans, the victory was won by the ex-president.
The channel’s interlocutor admitted that Biden’s performance at the debate was “weak”, but the campaign headquarters now plans to focus on the moments that its members felt were good and continue the work.
Earlier, the president’s headquarters announced that he would not leave the election race.
Both politicians actually won internal party elections in the Democratic and Republican parties, but have not yet become official presidential candidates. Their candidacies must be approved at conventions (congresses). The congress of the Republican Party will be held in July, and the Democratic Party will be held in August.
The US presidential election is scheduled for November 5, 2024.
