Dangerous for health: scientists told at what age you can’t lose weight

Date:

Previously, there was an opinion that it was dangerous for the elderly to lose weight. However, Chinese and American scientists conducted a study in which they found out that losing weight after thirty can endanger health.

The data of 2,045 people were analyzed in the experiment. Participants underwent personal interviews, physical examinations and laboratory tests. As a result, the scientists said that the normal functioning of the brain is affected not only by weight gain, but also by weight loss and the age at which it occurs.

The risk group included people who sharply gained extra pounds, but then just as sharply shed them. People who lost a lot of weight after their thirties had a higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s.

People who gained weight in early middle age and then lost it dramatically in late middle age were at the highest risk, according to the study.
