Export of Ukrainian IT services fell by 30% in January

Date:

In January 2023, the export revenue of IT services fell by 29.7% and brought in $528 million, which is $223 million less than in December last year.

This was reported by the Lviv IT-cluster with reference to data from the National Bank.

In addition, if compared with 2022, the volumes of IT exports in the first month of 2023 are 17.4% lower than in January 2022. In the dollar equivalent, this is equal to $111 million.

However, negative trends are observed not only in the IT sphere. According to the National Bank, the total export of all services of Ukraine in January decreased by 20.3% and was $324 million short compared to December 2022.

At the same time, computer services still make up a significant part of the export structure – 41.4%. Although this is 5.6% less than in December last year. At the same time, this is 4% more than in the same period of 2022.

“Unfortunately, such export data are predictable. At the beginning of the year, Cluster predicted that we will see the first effects of blackouts in the I-II quarter of 2023. If a part of foreign customers decided to leave the Ukrainian market in the winter, we are only now seeing how it affects the volume of exports,” says CEO of the Lviv IT Cluster Stepan Veselovskyi.

At the same time, according to him, there are other issues that negatively affect the dynamics. Among them is the opportunity to go abroad for men who hold key positions in companies for short-term business trips.
