Propagandists claim that allegedly the Ukrainians could easily drain the water, but did not prepare the floodgates in time.
As of the morning of April 26, the water level in the Dnieper in Kyiv near the “Metro” bridge is 600 centimeters above the zero of the Baltic post. This is 6 centimeters more than yesterday’s figure.
Such a state of affairs is recorded in the Kyiv City Military Administration. It is also noted that after a one-week drop in the water level, its slight increase is recorded two days in a row.
According to the KMVA, no emergency flooding was recorded in Kyiv. Floodplain areas remain flooded – areas in the parks “Muromets”, “Hydropark”, Trukhaniv Island, Galerna Zatoka, Korchuvate, riverside private areas in the Osokorki district. Industrial facilities and residential areas of the city are out of danger of flooding.
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center reports that the danger level of hydrological phenomena is I (yellow).
Ukrhydroenergo says that there is a tendency to decrease the rate of water level rise in the rivers in the north of the country. And in order to regulate water levels, hydropower companies continue to carry out controlled discharges in compliance with safety standards through hydropower plants on the Dnipro.
In Kyiv region, flooding of floodplains and low-lying areas of garden-cottage buildings and homesteads is still ongoing. No emergency flooding was recorded. The situation also improved in Dnipropetrovsk and Cherkasy regions.
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center also reported that the hydrological situation is currently under control. And as of April 26, flooding of floodplain areas and partial flooding of low-lying riverside areas will be maintained on the Dnieper in Kyiv, Vyshgorod, Brovarsky, and Boryspil districts of Kyiv region (I level of danger — yellow).
For its part, Ukrhydroenergo refutes yet another fake Russian propaganda about the spring flood.
“Spring watering in Ukraine is an annual natural phenomenon. The release of water into the floodplains of the Dnieper and Desna and other rivers is a seasonal process caused by the accumulation of snow cover and ice on the rivers in winter. This year, the Russian public did not miss the opportunity to speculate on this topic. In the information space, disinformation about the regular spilling of the Desna and Dnipro rivers in Ukraine is spreading rapidly,” says Ukrhydroenergo.
Ukrainian hydropower engineers note that when commenting on the flooding of populated areas located along the Dnipro River, “experts” move from trivial distortions to conspiracy theories.
“For example, one of the versions of Russian propaganda is that the flood was caused by “clogged sluices”. Information about the “dirty sluices” of the Kyiv HPP is nothing more than an anti-scientific Russian fake,” emphasizes Ukrhydroenergo.
The company reported: firstly, the lock is a hydrotechnical structure for transferring shipping facilities from one water space to another, which differs from the first water level. The locks are located next to the hydroelectric dams.
Secondly, the additional passage of water through the spillway dam by hydroelectric power stations is carried out through the spillway holes due to the lifting of the shutters, which are always in good condition. They are the ones that allow you to control and regulate the spring flood process.
“The situation with the passage of spring irrigation is completely under control. Hydroelectric power plants carry out controlled discharges to minimize the consequences of flooding along the Dnipro and Dniester rivers,” Ukrhydroenergo summarizes.
