He hid from the investigation for ten years – the murderer from Vinnytsia was detained in Ivano-Frankivsk

Date:

Operatives of the regional police headquarters searched for a suspect who was wanted for premeditated murder and robbery. The detainee faces up to fifteen years or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

According to Oleksandr Ostroglyadov, deputy head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Vinnytsia region, the 48-year-old detainee committed the crimes on September 1, 2013 in the village of Kuna, Haysyn district. The attacker tricked the woman that his car broke down and asked her to spend the night while it was repaired. He tied the pensioner with tape, began to beat her severely and demanded money. Having taken all her savings from the victim, which is about 1,000 hryvnias, the robber ran away and left the woman to die. Three days later, her body was found by neighbors.

The work of operatives, investigators and forensic scientists at the crime scene made it possible to immediately prove the involvement in the crime of a 48-year-old native of Ternopil region. Realizing that he was being sought, the perpetrator fled from the region and began to hide from the law enforcement officers.

Later, he was informed in absentia about the suspicion and declared wanted.

All these years operatives of Vinnytsia were looking for the suspect, but he constantly changed his place of residence, presented himself with fictitious personal data, used other people’s documents, in particular, passports.

The other day, the perpetrator was detained in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk. He is currently in a detention center.

Investigators will petition the court to choose a preventive measure for him – detention.

The detainee’s actions are qualified under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – Clause 6, Part 2, Art. 115 (Intentional murder) and Part 4 of Art. 187 (Robbery).
