The Podilsk district prosecutor’s office of the city of Kyiv, together with the investigators of the Podilsky UP GU NP in the city of Kyiv, informed about the suspicion of a resident of the city of Kyiv due to the fact of fraudulent appropriation of funds collected for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The investigation established that the suspect, having a personal account for conducting live broadcasts on a popular website created to collect funds for the Armed Forces, learned about the vulnerability of the website’s software and decided to use it in his own interests.
Having gained unauthorized access to the site’s virtual wallet, the man began to systematically withdraw funds collected by citizens from around the world for the needs of the Ukrainian army to his own account.
In this way, the attacker took possession of 340 thousand hryvnias of donations.
During the search of the perpetrator’s place of residence, information carriers confirming illegal activity and money obtained by criminal means were seized.
