In Transcarpathia, dealers who actively traded counterfeit coffee in Mukachevo will be tried

The Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor’s Office sent an indictment to the court against three persons on the fact of illegal use of signs for goods, which caused particularly large material damage.

During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that the businessman from the Mukachevo region, together with his wife and mother, were engaged in the distribution of counterfeit coffee products under the guise of goods of a well-known Italian brand. The sale was carried out in wholesale and retail batches through online sites and at one of the Mukachevo markets. At the same time, Zakarpattia did not have any contracts or licenses for the use of the trademark.

In the summer of last year, during searches of the houses of the accused, warehouses and places of trade, law enforcement officers seized several thousand packages of coffee beans with a total weight of more than 5 tons. The manufacturing company confirmed that the losses caused to them amounted to almost UAH 3.5 million, because all the products marked under their brand were fake.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was carried out by the Territorial Department of the BEB in Zakarpattia Oblast.
