Banks expect a moderate recovery in demand for loans. About this reported in the NBU, referring to the results of a survey on the conditions of bank lending.
In April-June 2022, borrowers’ interest in business loans did not change significantly. As in the 1st quarter, the need for working capital, debt restructuring and domestic financing boosted demand. The demand for hryvnia and short-term loans has partially recovered, mostly for SMEs.
For the second time in a row, the majority of banks announced the tightening of corporate lending standards, mostly for long-term, foreign currency loans and loans to large businesses.
Survey participants noted an increase in all types of risks in the II quarter of 2022, most notably credit and operational risks, as in the previous quarter.
In the next 12 months, most banks predict a reduction in the volume of both corporate and retail lending. At the same time, estimates of the prospects for the recovery of consumer credit slightly improved compared to the previous quarter.
Banks expect a reduction in funding in the next 12 months, but have more optimistic estimates of the prospects for attracting public funds compared to the 1st quarter.
