Kostyuk beat the British Darth at the US Open

Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk defeated British Harriet Dart in two sets (2:0) and advanced to the third round of the US Open tournament. informs Public. Sports on Thursday.

In the first round of the competition, Kostyuk beat the American McCartney Kesser in two sets (6:2, 6:3) and reached the 1/32 finals of the US Open. The next opponent of the first racket of Ukraine was the British Harriet Dart, with whom Marta met twice before – and won twice.

In the first set, Kostiuk lost the opening two games on her serve, making only one break in response. Dart’s advantage lasted until the tenth game, but Kostyuk was able to turn the first set into a tiebreak. Kostyuk won a break on Dart’s serve, however, the next game on her serve, but made another one to make it 6-6.

In the tie-break, Kostiuk won five Dart set points at once, three of which were 3:6. And in the end, she took the game, realizing the third set point.

Kostyuk ended the second set with a crushing victory – 6:1. The Ukrainian gave only one game at the very start of the game, after which she took six in a row, although she realized the match point only on the fourth attempt.

Marta Kostyuk’s opponent in the third round of the competition will be determined in the match between the Dutchwoman Aranci Rus and the 12th ranked player in the world, the American Emma Navarro.
