Lighting cables worth 100,000 hryvnias were stolen from VDNG

Date:

Criminals decided to make money by robbing an urban park popular among young people.

Last night, unknown persons stole hundreds of meters of cables and dozens of automatic devices from new lanterns. At the moment, the exact amount of damages has not yet been determined, but it is estimated to be about 100,000 hryvnias. This was reported by the general director of the “Expocenter of Ukraine” Evgeny Mushkin.

“Because of this incident, we will have to restore the lighting. The process is difficult and long-term, and unfortunately, it will be dark while the works in Urban Park continue, Yevhen Mushkin noted. – We are very sorry that such cases happen. We have already written a statement to the law enforcement authorities and hope that the perpetrators will receive a fair punishment.”

According to him, the territory of VDNG is 287 hectares. During the Soviet period, a full-fledged police department worked here. Now there is only a security company with the Expocenter’s own funds, which is not enough for such an area.

“We deliver cameras with analytical alarms. This will reduce risks for a moderate amount,” he noted.

Urban Park is one of the most popular locations of VDNG. More than half of Expocenter visitors visit the newest public space. The largest urban park in Ukraine was opened at the end of August 2021. On the territory there is a concrete skate park with an area of 2500 m², playgrounds for street football, basketball, street dance classes, workouts and parkour. Urban Park is available at any time, entrance is free.
