Ministry of Culture: 2024 objects of cultural infrastructure of Ukraine were damaged due to the aggression of the Russian Federation

As a result of Russian armed aggression against Ukraine, 2,024 objects of cultural infrastructure have already been damaged, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy reports.

“The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy continues to record damage to cultural infrastructure objects in Ukraine as a result of Russian aggression… 2,024 cultural infrastructure objects were damaged without taking into account cultural heritage monuments, of which 334 were destroyed (16.5%)”, – reads in the message.

It is noted that in July, the total number of affected cultural institutions in the regions increased by 11 units, and cultural institutions in Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Sumy regions and Kyiv were the most affected.

In total, the following were affected: club establishments – 974; libraries – 720; art education institutions – 157; museums and galleries – 117; theaters, cinemas and philharmonics – 37, parks, zoos, reserves – 16; circuses – 3.

“At the end of July 2024, almost the entire territory of Luhansk and significant parts of the territories of Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Kherson regions are still under temporary occupation, which makes it impossible to calculate the exact number of cultural infrastructure objects that were damaged during hostilities and occupation”, – noted in department
