NASA has shown in detail the future landing site of the lunar expedition “Artemis III”

Date:

Scientists from NASA in cooperation with National Geographic published composite image of Shackleton Crater, located near the south pole of the Moon. It should become a landing site for the future lunar expedition “Artemis III”, which is planned for the end of 2025.

The image is based on images from cameras installed on the American Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) and the South Korean Danuri spacecraft.

Above is a map of the lunar south pole area near Shackleton Crater, including potential landing sites for the Artemis III expedition (marked in yellow).

It will be recalled that on August 23, 2023, India became the first country to land a spacecraft near the south pole of the Moon as part of a mission costing $77 million.
