Date:

The life and creative path of the Ukrainian artist is inextricably linked with our city, where he was born, later studied at a drawing school, worked in a workshop, creating his most famous masterpieces.

This Saturday, Daria Dobryan’s lecture will be held in the “CEGLA” space, dedicated to the corners of Kyiv, related to the biography of the outstanding Ukrainian artist Oleksandr Murashko.

“Here is the light, here is the sun, here is a wonderful nature, here is its own culture” – wrote about Kyiv an artist who raised Ukrainian art to the Western European level!

Visitors to the event will be able to look at the city through the eyes of the artist and his contemporaries, talk about famous Kyiv buildings associated with his name, in particular: Mala Zhytomyrska, Volodymyrska, Taras Shevchenko Boulevard, Mala Pidvalna and Instytutska.

“We will tell you not only about the infamous Mala Zhytomyrska Street, 14, which has been falling into disrepair for decades, but also about other famous places where he once lived, worked and spent his leisure time,” says the lecturer.

Of course, there are many other cities in Murashko’s biography – Ukrainian and European, but first of all he is a very “Kyiv” artist.

Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Murashko is an outstanding Ukrainian painter, teacher, public figure. For three years, the artist improved his skills in Europe, lived in Paris and Munich.

He was one of the founders of the Society of Kyiv Artists, took an active part in the founding of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts, becoming its first rector.

At one time, his works conquered the world, gaining recognition at international exhibitions, and Oleksandr Murashko himself is considered the first Ukrainian European.

Unfortunately, the artist suffered a tragic fate: he died at the age of 43, full of new ideas and creative plans.

The press of that time wrote that “he was robbed and killed by bandits”, but the circumstances of this death remain unclear to this day.

The event will take place as part of the “Frame Factory” exhibition, which is currently ongoing in the “CEGLA” space
