Peace conditions must be acceptable and agreed with Ukrainians – Czech President

Czech President Peter Pavel confirmed his support to Ukraine and stressed that any ceasefire should be a step to a real peace, and its conditions should be acceptable and agreed with Ukrainians.

“I am here to confirm the President of Zelensky and all the Ukrainians that the Czech Republic will continue to be with you. Now we hear a lot of conversations about the ceasefire and, frankly, it seems in the area of ​​achievement. I want to say that no one wants more peace than Ukrainians, but any ceasefire should be a step. Joint press conference with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday.

He noted that the Czech Republic understands Ukrainian aspirations to make a sovereign choice about the future and to live as a free society. “Ukraine needs guarantees that Russia will not attack again. It is our collective responsibility. The Czech Republic will contribute,” Pavel added.

According to him, the Czech involvement in the coalition is now being discussed, in addition, the Czech Republic wants to “support Ukrainian armed forces vital things and we work in three projects to support Ukraine.”

The Czech President also stressed that he clearly sees Ukraine as part of the European family.

“And I am here to support you on your way to the European Union … And we also encourage all our allies and partners not to ask Ukrainian membership in NATO, not to remove it from the table, because it is obviously the strongest and cheapest guarantees of European peace,” Pavel said.
