A musician with a capital letter, pianist, conductor, artistic director, a colossal personality, extremely erudite and educated, but very easy to communicate with and a kind person. with a colossal sense of humor…with a Great Soul…

An artist who paved the way and helped many young talents…Extremely generous in support…A friend of all children…Fanatically devoted to Ukrainian music!!!

It was on his order that Ukrainian composers wrote a colossal number of works… A huge loss for Ukrainian culture… He played a huge role in my life… My Mentor. Friend… Indescribable pain…»

Reacted to the death of a prominent musician the team of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, on the stage of which many iconic and interesting music premieres and events took place under the leadership of the Maestro:

Valery Matyukhin is the personification of an entire era in Ukrainian musical culture. Devoted to his work until his last breath, he was a musician-enlightener, a tireless seeker of new things and a pioneer of the most interesting samples of Ukrainian music. Probably no one has played such a number of works by modern Ukrainian composers as Matyukhin played together with the “Kyiv Camerata”. Valery Oleksandrovych was a deep connoisseur of Ukrainian music – you could always ask him for advice, he was a kind of guide for performers of modern Ukrainian music, as he knew well: what, when and by whom was written for a particular composition, in what genre, who performed, etc.

It is sad and symbolic at the same time that the Maestro left on the eve of the International Festival “Kyiv Music Premieres”. For many years, it was “Camera” led by Valery Matyukhin that was one of the main participants in the festival program. Eternal memory and the Kingdom of Heaven. Sincere condolences to the relatives“.
