The German capital is preparing for the opening of the Berlinale film festival

Date:

Cinema despite the pandemic. The German capital is preparing for the opening of the Berlinale festival. How will the celebration take place, which of the stars will walk the red carpet and what will Ukraine bring to Germany? Tatyana Logunova will tell more.

The foundry of the Noak family is full of work. Time is running out – by the beginning of February, the main prizes of the Berlinale – gold and silver bears – must be produced. Masters have been responsible for festival statuettes for many years and have never failed. The bears are cast from bronze and then covered with a layer of gold and silver. And a few hours before the official award ceremony, the names of the laureates are engraved.

The coronavirus pandemic dictates its festival rules. This year’s Berlinale will be much shorter than usual – it will last only six days. Public access will also be limited. Cinemas will be half full. All spectators will be asked to show proof of vaccination or covid. Plus a recent negative test for coronavirus.

These are just plans for now. The organizers of the film festival warn that everything can change at the last minute. If, for example, the epidemic situation worsens significantly. The list of star guests who plan to arrive in Berlin has not yet been announced. Who knows, Germany will suddenly introduce additional restrictions on entry or one of the declared celebrities will fall ill.
