The head of the energy committee of the Republic of Belarus allows the accelerated adoption of a decision on the abolition of VAT and customs duty on energy equipment to start its effect from August 1

Date:

In order to speed up the abolition of VAT and duties on energy equipment, a vote on the corresponding amendment is being prepared during the adoption of another draft law, in order to bypass the lengthy procedure of passing legislative initiatives proposed by the government on this very issue. reported Chairman of the Energy Committee of the Verkhovna Rada Andrii Gerus.

“I hope that this (repeal of VAT and customs duties – ER) will be in the next plenary week, when we have it. This question was elaborated and submitted as an amendment. Perhaps speed will be gained in this way, because we will not need to pass draft laws through two readings, but the amendment will be voted on once. And there is such a hope that it will all start working from August 1,” he said during the committee’s meeting on Friday, which was broadcast online.

According to him, it is necessary to saturate the Ukrainian market with energy equipment as much as possible, “so that the generation is restored and built as quickly as possible, so that those devices are imported that help people to be more with e/e”.

Gerus expressed the opinion that after the adoption of the decision, the import of energy equipment will accelerate, because there are many interested persons, including enterprises, who want to build generating facilities.

Preliminary plenary sessions were planned to be held next week.

As it was reported with reference to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on July 9, the government sent to the parliament draft laws on the abolition of customs duties and VAT on the import of energy equipment.

“We count on prompt approval of these draft laws by the Verkhovna Rada. We expect that all these mechanisms will be fully operational no later than July 25,” the Prime Minister said.
