The head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, declared her support for the “peace plan” of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi in those aspects that concern her competence.
“Of course, we support President Zelensky’s peace plan. It is not for me to judge about joining NATO. But in what is within our competence, we fully support his plan,” the head of the EC said in response to a relevant question on Thursday evening at a press conference in Brussels after the meeting of the European Council.
According to the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, who participated in the press conference, the presentation of Zelensky’s plan at the EU summit brought clarity to the “urgent needs of Ukrainians, especially in the military and financial aspects.” According to Michel, the plan is already useful in that it makes it possible to determine what equipment and what funding is urgently needed.
The meeting of the European Council on Thursday morning began with the presentation of Zelensky’s five-point Victory Plan to the leaders of the EU countries and EU institutions.
