The mayor of Odesa appealed to the parliamentarians with a request to legislate the use of humanitarian buses

Date:

The Mayor of Odesa, Gennadiy Trukhanov, appealed to the Verkhovna Rada to legislate the use of buses donated as humanitarian aid by municipal enterprises.

“In conditions of blackouts, these buses can replace electric transport”, – stated Trukhanov in a video message posted on the Telegram channel on Wednesday.

According to Trukhanov, 10 buses with a low floor and all the conditions for the transportation of people with disabilities, which he handed over to the city of Regensburg, have been standing in Odesa for almost half a year. In total, there are more than 300 such buses in Ukraine, which are also idle in communal enterprises of various cities.

The fact is that the law prohibits transport utilities from making a profit from the use of humanitarian buses. “In this case, it is to carry out its statutory activity. Although they were provided precisely for this purpose,” Trukhanov emphasized.

He noted that the Ministry of Reconstruction has developed a corresponding draft law on the use of KP humanitarian buses, three months have passed, and the document has not yet been reviewed.

“Once again, together with the public organization that cares for people with disabilities, we appeal to government officials and parliamentarians to speed up the procedure for preparing and passing the draft law on humanitarian buses. After all, behind us are Ukrainians who did not leave the country and work for its economy. And they need conditions to move around the city normally,” Trukhanov concluded.
