The pro-Russian blogger detained in the UOC MP monastery will be tried for treason

Under the procedural leadership of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, an indictment against a citizen of Ukraine for treason was sent to the court.

The investigation established that before the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, the suspect began to actively assist the Russian Federation in carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine.

To fulfill the tasks of the Russian curators, the man prepared and sent articles for publication in which he expressed pro-Russian views. These publications were posted on Russian websites, were actively “spread” by propagandists on the Internet and were available to an unlimited number of users.

In these articles, he denied the existence of Ukraine as a state and the Ukrainian people. Popularized and heroized the Russian Federation and its president.

At the same time, he spoke negatively and prejudicedly about the Ukrainian language and culture.

The conclusions of the examination confirm that these publications contained information aimed at inciting national, inter-ethnic, social enmity and hatred, creating discord between the army and the people, negatively influencing public opinion, contributing to the spread of Russian propaganda in Ukraine and posing a threat to national security in the information sphere.

In August 2022, the man was notified of suspicion of treason.

After that, he began to hide from justice and was declared wanted.

According to the results of investigative and operational actions, the law enforcement officers managed to establish his whereabouts and detain him on the territory of one of the monasteries of the UOC (MP) in Kyiv, where he was hiding.

He is currently in custody.
