Former US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine should cede part of its temporarily occupied territories to Russia and keep what it “earned” in order to end the war

Trump said this in an interview Reuters.

Trump said that if he were president, a peaceful settlement would be discussed, while Ukrainians have earned a lot by fighting to protect their land.

“I think they will have the right to keep most of what they have earned, and Russia will probably agree to that. The right mediator or negotiator is needed, and now there is none,” said the former US president.

US President Joe Biden and NATO allies demand that the Russian Federation leave the territory it occupied in eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyi proposed a 10-point peace plan that year, calling on Russia to withdraw all its troops.

“I think that the most important thing that the USA should do right now is to make peace, to unite Russia and Ukraine. You can do it. It’s time to do it, to bring both sides together to force peace,” Trump added.

Also, the former US president claimed that Putin’s positions were undermined by the uprising of the fighters of the Wagner Communist Party under the leadership of Prigozhin

“You can say that he (Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, – editor) is still there, he is still strong, but I can definitely say that he is somewhat weakened, at least in the imagination of many people. We don’t know what the alternatives are. It could be better, but it could be much worse,” Trump said about the alternatives to Putin at the head of the Russian Federation.

In addition, the former leader of the United States spoke in favor of not trying to bring the president of the Russian Federation to justice under the warrant of the International Criminal Court until the end of the war in Ukraine

“If you raise this topic now, you will never achieve peace, you will never achieve a settlement,” he emphasized.
