“We have to control our emotions”: President of Poland Duda made a new statement about weapons for Ukraine

Date:

Polish President Andrzej Duda made a new statement about the transfer of arms to Ukraine by his country, indicating that he sees no problem in transferring them when Poland receives a modern replacement. He said this in an interview with the Super Express newspaper, he writes UNN.

Quote

“I interpreted the Prime Minister’s statement in a completely different way. Perhaps because I recently spoke with him, in particular about the transfer of equipment to Ukraine. We both said that sending some of the new equipment we are currently procuring, such as K2 artillery howitzers or K9 tanks, is out of the question. This technique should serve to strengthen the Polish army. We don’t spend billions to suddenly give them away,” the Polish president said.

“But this does not mean that we will not transfer weapons to Ukraine at all. When old equipment is replaced with modern equipment, I see no problem in sending it to Ukrainians. Do not draw too far-reaching conclusions. We have to control our emotions, because let’s remember who will gain the most if Poland and Ukraine separate. The consequences can be tragic,” said Duda.

Addition

Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki stated last week that the country is no longer transferring weapons to Ukraine because they are now arming Poland.

This exacerbated the dispute between the countries, which arose against the background of Poland’s introduction of a country-level embargo on Ukrainian grain after the European Commission’s refusal to extend the ban on imports to five EU member states.
