Personnel and equipment will be on duty around the clock at the posts.
In particular, additional fire stations are planned to be arranged taking into account the existing fire stations and the approximate radius (3 km) of service by one unit in five districts of the capital. Such a decision will help strengthen the protection of Kyiv residents and guests of the capital from fires and the consequences of emergency situations.
To this end, the Kyiv City Council made appropriate changes to the city’s target program at today’s session.
We are talking about the program for ensuring readiness for action as assigned by the territorial subsystem of the city of Kyiv of the Unified State Civil Protection System for 2020-2023.
He announced this at the results of the meeting of the Kyiv City Council Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko.
“The issue of creating new fire stations became particularly acute with the beginning of the large-scale invasion of Russia. The load on our firefighters and rescuers is high, because they must quickly respond to emergency situations, in particular, eliminate the consequences of rocket fire and drone attacks on critical infrastructure and residential buildings of the city. Therefore, today we adjusted the city’s targeted civil defense program to start the construction of five fire stations in Kyiv. In the current conditions, this is very important and will help strengthen the security of our city,” noted Vitaliy Klitschko.
During the large-scale war, Kyiv received 36 modern fire trucks as aid and received from foreign partners. In December, the city sent 2 of them to Kharkiv, which is under constant shelling.
Fire and rescue units of the capital make more than 10,000 trips annually, eliminate more than 5,000 fires and 500 accidents, save the lives and health of 400 residents of the capital. Every day in Kyiv, more than 30 trips are made to extinguish fires and eliminate emergency situations.
