Zelensky connects the operation in the Russian Federation with the liberation of the border from Russian troops to protect Sumy Oblast from shelling

Date:

Ukraine controls almost 1,000 square kilometers in Kursk Oblast, from where, in particular, the Russian Federation shelled Sumy Oblast, so Ukrainian operations are “purely a matter of security for Ukraine,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said.

“Held the Stavka. There was a report by head of the Syrskyi Committee. Along the front and all key defense directions. And also regarding the operation in the Kursk region – General Syrsky reported that about a thousand square kilometers in the Kursk region are under control. These are, in particular, the areas from which the Russian army struck our Sumy Oblast,” Zelenskyy said in his traditional evening video address on Monday.

According to the president, since June 1, the Russians have carried out almost 2,100 shellings of the territory of the Sumy region.

“Therefore, our operations are purely a matter of security for Ukraine, the liberation of the border from the Russian military,” Zelensky emphasized.

He thanked all Ukrainian soldiers, sergeants and officers for their courage and effective actions.
