For a bribe, the official promised to help in making a positive decision on granting permission for the development of the land management project regarding the acquisition of the land plot.
The head of one of the village councils in Odesa region was exposed for extorting 20,000 dollars for assistance in registering land ownership. This is reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to the investigation, the deputy acting as the head of one of the village councils in Odesa region demanded 20,000 dollars for the unhindered registration of ownership rights to a land plot with an area of 2 hectares in the Podilsky district of Odesa region.
“With these funds, he promised to influence the members of the land commission and the deputies of the executive committee of the village council to make a positive decision on granting permission for the development of the land management project regarding the acquisition of the land plot.
In case of non-fulfillment of the conditions, the official threatened to refuse to receive the corresponding permit document,” the message reads.
The suspect was detained after receiving half of the stipulated amount as a deposit – $10,000.
Issues regarding the selection of preventive measures and removal from the post are being resolved.
