Kyiv residents should not be afraid of yellowish water.
Spring flooding affects water quality, reported PJSC “Kyivvodokanal”.
The Kyiv HPP began intensive water discharge, which led to a rapid deterioration of water quality in the river itself.
The level and quality of water in the Dnipro directly affect the technological processes of water treatment. The spring flood this year is characterized by its rapidity and scale.
Over many years of work, specialists of Kyivvodokanal have studied all seasonal fluctuations in the quality of water in surface sources and are always ready to adjust the operating mode of our water supply stations.
“But we draw the attention of Kyiv residents that during a flood, such an indicator of tap water as color may temporarily increase. That is, the water during this period may have a slightly yellowish color. This indicator affects the quality of water only visually and does not indicate its danger,” Kyivvodokanal assures.
Specialists take samples every day at all stages of water preparation, monitor physico-chemical and microbiological parameters and ensure that tap water in the capital remains safe. Currently, the water quality remains within the normal range.
According to information of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, on April 12-13, as a result of the passage of spring irrigation through the Kyiv HPP, the water level of the Dnipro River in Kyiv and the Boryspil district of the Kyiv region may reach dangerous levels of the initial flooding of areas adjacent to the river mouth.
The first level of danger is announced – yellow.
