A Ukrainian football player died near Bakhmut

We are talking about 30-year-old Roman Skrypnyuk.

Roman Skrypnyuk, a football player who once played for a number of Odesa football teams, died in the battles for Bakhmut.

The man volunteered for the war after February 24 last year. However, the athlete died while performing a task in the east of Ukraine.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Roman was a pupil of the Odessa football club “Bastion”, which competed in the Second League of the Ukrainian Championship. In his youth, Skrypniuk took part in both Odesa Oblast championships and All-Ukrainian tournaments. After that, he served in the army.

Returning home after the army, the man continued to defend the colors of local football clubs. Took part in the championships of Chornomorsk and Odesa, championships of the Odesa region and district competitions. Over the past years, Skrypniuk managed to play for a number of teams from the south of Ukraine.

The football player is survived by his wife and two children.
