The World Bank will allocate 2.5 billion dollars for Ukraine

The World Bank will allocate an additional $2.5 billion to support Ukraine’s budget.

About this informs press service of the World Bank.

“This additional Peace and Security funding package builds on previous grants and will support key sectors including health, schools, pensions, payments to internally displaced persons, social assistance programs and wages for workers who provide essential state services”, the message says.

It is noted that the funds provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will be transferred to the Government of Ukraine after appropriate verification of acceptable costs by the World Bank.

To date, the World Bank has mobilized more than 20.6 billion US dollars in the form of emergency financing to support the people of Ukraine, including commitments and promises of donors from Western countries.

US President Joe Biden supported the candidacy of Ajay Banga, who was CEO of Mastercard until 2021, for the post of president of the World Bank.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the World Bank’s Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) agreed to jointly finance guarantees under the Trade Facilitation Program, Ukraine will receive the first aid.
