The commission has identified new scholarship holders.

Despite the martial law and financial restrictions, the capital authorities continue to pay 27 lifetime and 27 annual scholarships to prominent cultural figures, whose work is a significant contribution to the development of culture and art in the city of Kyiv.

This was reported on the website KMDA.

The commission for awarding lifelong city scholarships to outstanding figures of culture and art has awarded four lifelong scholarships in the amount of the minimum wage (6,700 hryvnias, monthly each) to new scholarship holders starting January 1, 2023:

  • to the artist Mykola Ivanovych Kononenko;
  • journalist Malienko Oleksandr Trokhimovych;
  • People’s Artist of Ukraine Valeria Viktorivna Tchaikovsky (Kyiv Academic Theater of Young Spectators on Lypki);
  • People’s Artist of Ukraine Yevgeny Mykhailovych Shah (National Academic Drama Theater named after I. Franko).

Lifetime scholarships were founded at the request of creative unions of the city of Kyiv back in 1997. They became a significant support for cultural veterans and a testimony of their outstanding personal achievements.

Also, according to the decision of the Commission on the assignment of annual city scholarships to prominent figures of culture and art, a draft order was prepared on the payment of 27 annual scholarships to prominent figures of culture in the amount of 50% of the minimum wage (3,350 hryvnias), each monthly.
