Specialists of various services of the State Emergency Service explained the basics of mine safety to the children.
“Let’s smile, learn the safety rules and have a little fun” – this was the motto of a safety training for children and adults at the “Blockbuster Mall” shopping center on Saturday, April 1. This was reported in the Department of Emergency Situations in Kyiv.
Pyrotechnicians of the Rapid Response Mobile Rescue Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine told the children how to distinguish explosive objects, where they can hide, what rules of safe behavior should be followed in case of detecting a mine or ammunition.
Rescuers also talked about fire safety and demonstrated special clothing: a heat-reflective suit, a rescue diver suit, chemical protection and combat clothing, and specialists from the Kyiv city organization of the Red Cross of Ukraine taught how to provide first aid.
Together with the children, the psychologists made anti-stress toys, colored and got to know the superheroes from educational printing products developed by the State Emergency Service together with the United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF Ukraine.
Children, together with their parents, tried on the armor protection of a sapper and a rescuer, looked for an “explosive device” and solved riddles. Bright commemorative photos were taken near the photo booths.
Today, Ukraine is the most mined country in the world. Therefore, such training for children from Kyiv rescuers has already become traditional. To draw attention to this topic, Tuesday, April 4, will be celebrated as International Mine Awareness Day. That is why they decided to conduct a radio dictation for children of junior and high school on safe behavior with mines and unexploded ordnance.
