A Canadian investor dismantled a solar power plant in Ukraine through Kolomoiskyi

Date:

The Canadian company TIU, which built a solar power plant in Nikopol 3 years ago, has dismantled the equipment and is leaving the city.

This is discussed in the material Voice of America.

“The justice system proved unable to protect our investments in Nikopol. So we decided to leave there,” said TIU Canada CEO Michael Yurkovich.

He recalled that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, gave TIU personal guarantees, welcoming their work at the investment conference in Ottawa.

Canadian businessmen claim that they have become victims of a raiding attack by oligarchs. The solar power plant operated on the territory of the Nikopol ferroalloy plant. Two years ago, they were disconnected from the factory power grids, referring to the need for repairs.

“The downtime continues, no one is doing repairs. Meanwhile, the owners of the ferroalloy plant made an offer to sell the facility for nothing,” Yurkovich complains.

An attempt to appeal in the courts failed. “The last straw for me was how we were treated in court. And how some people tried to influence our people – through political pressure, through threats,” says Yurkovich.

Nikopol Ferrosalvny, in turn, claims that Canadian investors are blackmailing the plant, preventing the metallurgical giant from repairing its own power grids.

We remind you:

TIU Canada has been operating on the Ukrainian market since 2016. In 2018, the Nikopol SPP was installed, designed for 10.5 MW.

The Nikopol ferroalloy plant belongs to the “Privat” group of oligarch Ihor Kolomoiskyi.
